I am a little bit of a nerd um I think in my earlier years I was certainly an introvert however I would have to say of him very much an extrovert now but I’m also quite independent as well um I am quite strong-willed which makes it a little bit difficult for hubby sometimes but I I do enjoy the markets and I do like learning too so I’m a little a reader I like numbers and I guess I’m a little bit of a late bloomer also I think yeah yeah and to the point that you have actually pointed out that you’re an introvert and how I think I was a shy introverted yeah naturally you’re you’re now an extrovert but how did you how did you transition between that and you’re rather you’re put constantly out there putting yourself out there how did you transition between that
sure I believe among the things that people ask me or or get discussed a fair bit is that I seem to be a natural speaker that I’m quite good at public speaking but that definitely was not always the case and it was a found out skill for me so whether it was the um getting over the nerves part or the part around body movement and even called The Confident walk I believe all of those were um sort of taught abilities so it certainly wasn’t something that came naturally to me and I worked very hard I think to acquire that ability of having the ability to speak um and I believe one thing that made a very big impression on me for somebody who was late Blue Moon introvert and relative truly shy in my more youthful years was that everyone has the right to speak so to be able to reveal yourself in a way that individuals understand I believe was quite crucial to me and um I think that’s why I worked at the school and hopefully I am far better at it now than I was when I began I would definitely say so um and how did you can you tell us a little bit about how you began in um Financing like why did you choose a profession in finance and what was the the very first point of contact in the financial world existed a parental impact or was this something that you were just constantly thinking about I would enjoy to say that you understand I always understood what I was going to do which was Finance however that was not the case at all I can come back when I started working it wasn’t.
unusual simply to fall under your profession for me I actually wanted to be a legal representative from the time I was about 7 years of ages but at the time that I went to UNI there were a lot of legal representatives that the unemployment rate with law was so high that you needed to do a double degree um so that was sort of 5 years of a double degree plus an additional year of law school and then 3 years practicing as a lawyer and I thought oh that sort of sounds like an extra ten years so I really went and ended up studying organization at UTS so um similar to a Commerce degree um however throughout uni I um I operated at an Italian restaurant and then I attempted to open an Italian dining establishment and to do that um I needed to take out a loan with a NAB and truly I needed to pay back that loan when it didn’t exercise so um I I saw an ad in the paper and it said do you want to be a stock broker and I thought oh yeah that sounds respectable yeah we’ll try we’re here we go and um you know I was fortunate in that sense due to the fact that I I do love the work I like being able to understand companies and to operate in a market where you’re constantly having the ability to maintain to date with what’s taking place in the world what’s occurring in terms of advancements in technology or biotechnology and science I think is an amazing thing so I like to read it and I never have a lack of stories to read when it pertains to the markets yeah terrific and between transition from oh I may want to be a stock broker how did you become say inequities financial investment strategist how did that occur um existed.
did you work your method up to a particular position or did you simply use and then start from there like how did that take place sure so um I guess when it concerns the financing world you sort of start everybody starts at a base level and after that you move into the area that you have an interest in my location of interest is constantly markets and I took the view that um you know when I began I didn’t wish to simply um just sort of I guess offer something that I was at first associated with so I made a substantial effort to walk the walk and talk to talk and that suggests anything that I was talking about I I made the effort to in fact trade myself or invest in myself too and I began in finance with the view that you understand in any occupation or in any occupation it usually takes you about 2 or three years of finding out to understand the lessons involved and what was occurring because type of world so I I began a financial investment diary with the view that um you know I wished to find out as much about investing as possible in a sort of 2 to 3 amount of time so in that amount of time I sort of provided myself or I permitted myself the chance to lose cash as I thought to myself for the two to three years um that the the goal wasn’t to make as much money as possible however the objective was to discover the ability of being able to make money so that I can use it for the rest of my life so that was an excellent duration for me and I I learned a lot of lessons I explored basic analysis technical analysis understanding businesses looking at market analysis I likewise took a look at things like options trading which is a lot more dangerous but that was a terrific period where I I sort of laid the foundation of going into Equity method which I really do take pleasure in and the reason I take pleasure in being an equity strategist is I enjoy comprehending cycles and how that impacts on various organizations and the various.
business environments too so um yeah it’s been a a long journey but one I I’ve definitely um delighted in so I’ve gone from presenting um things like essential analysis technical analysis tax reliable investing choices to heading up a basic analysis system where I got to travel a lot to the US and after that I transferred to Bell direct where I was Equity strategist there for 11 years and after that relocated to do my own funds management business birming invests which I offered in June and now here I am at State Street Global equities and consultants strategists for the ETF location well incredible um throughout that duration when you mentioned um the two to three years of finding out how did you discover that your confidence was at first versus after the three years and how did you discover um the resources to uh educate yourself like nowadays we have podcasts um I’m sure like prior to then we didn’t have too many resources offered as we do now and was it through books or uni.
